Press release: Change of Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the State of Israel


Mr David Quarrey CMG has been appointed Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the State of Israel in succession to Mr Matthew Steven Gould CMG MBE. Mr Quarrey will take up his appointment during July 2015.


Mr Quarrey joined the FCO in 1994 and is currently Director for the Near East and North Africa. He has previously worked as a Private Secretary to the Prime Minister and as Director for Foreign Policy in the National Security Secretariat. He has served overseas at the UK Mission to the United Nations in New York, and in New Delhi and Harare.


On his appointment as Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the State of Israel, Mr Quarrey said:



I am delighted to be appointed as British Ambassador to Israel. It is a great privilege to have this opportunity to deepen our already thriving economic, science and technology ties with Israel, cooperate against shared security threats and work for progress towards peace.
