CRM14 eForms can now be used to submit criminal legal aid applications online in both the south east and the south west of England.
This follows the transfer of responsibility for processing of applications to the Legal Aid Agency (LAA) in both regions during February 2015.
Paper applications
Any applications being made on the paper forms will need to be sent to the LAA Birmingham office – see below.
Transfer in Wales
On 20 April 2015 the next phase of the transfer will start with the processing of applications for cases in Wales. Further updates on the transfer in Wales will be circulated by your contract managers.
Wi-Fi in selected courts
To support the use of the CRM14 online eForm, we have installed a number of 4G Mi-Fi networks in solicitor’s room’s in magistrates’ courts across the south east and south west region.
These will be available in the following courts:
- Brighton
- Bournemouth
- Norwich
- Plymouth
- Reading
- St Albans
These are private networks for Criminal Justice System (CJS) practitioners only and their use is limited to the submission of the CRM14 eForm and accessing CJSM secure email.
How do I start using Mi-Fi networks?
Providers will need to email the Crime Change Programme to request passwords for the sites where they wish to make use of the new networks – see contact details below.
They will also need to include details of all colleagues in the firm they will share the passwords with.
Mi-Fi networks a temporary solution
This is a temporary solution pending the rollout of HM Courts and Tribunals Service (HMCTS) professional court user wi-fi under the CJS efficiency programme.
This will eventually equip courts permanently with wi-fi across England and Wales.
