News story: CSPL policing inquiry: publication of written evidence and Newsham Memorial Lecture


The Committee on Standards in Public Life is currently conducting an inquiry into ‘Local policing – leadership, ethics and accountability’ looking at the roles and powers of elected Police and Crime Commissioners, Chief Constables and police and crime panels.


The Committee carried out a public consultation as part of this inquiry and is publishing all the written responses received.


Responses were received from individuals and organisations including Police and Crime Commissioners, Police and Crime Panels, police forces, charities, the public, local government, academics and professional bodies.


You can view the responses on the Committee’s website from 10am on 10 February 2015.


Lord Bew, Chairman of the Committee, will also be giving the Annual Newsam Memorial Lecture hosted by the College of Policing at The Royal Society, 6-9 Carlton House Terrace, London SW1Y 5AG on Tuesday 10 February 2015 at 16.00pm. The lecture, ‘Delivering on core policing values - leadership and accountability’, will include an update on the progress of the inquiry.
