The Environment Agency is reminding people to sign up for free flood warnings and check their flood risk ahead of more rain expected today and tomorrow.
More rain this afternoon and tonight (Wednesday) brings a risk of localised river and surface water flooding to west and south-west England and western parts of the Midlands.
As the rain moves east, there could be some localised flooding in southern and south-east England on Thursday and Friday.
Strong winds and large waves also bring the chance of some localised flooding along the Dorset coast overnight on Wednesday into Thursday.
This could bring localised disruption to travel and potential flooding of some land, roads and individual properties.
As always, we urge people to take care, avoid driving through flood water, keep clear of promenades and avoid putting themselves or others at risk.
John Curtin, Director of Incident Management at the Environment Agency, said: “We are continuing to monitor the situation closely, along with the Met Office and local authorities. Our teams are out on the ground, ensuring flood defences are ready, rivers can flow freely and clearing trash screens.
“People can sign up to receive our free flood warnings, check their flood risk and keep up to date with the latest situation on the GOV.UK website or by following @EnvAgency and #floodaware on Twitter for the latest flood updates.”
